'The Vow': sweet, earnest but half-baked

By Rick Porter It's shaping up to be a pretty big weekend at the box office, as both "The Vow" and "Safe House" recorded big openings on Friday (Feb. 10). The 3-D rerelease of "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" also did pretty well.

The two films lead another record-breaking weekend and are in a heated race for the weekend crown; "Star Wars: Phantom Menace" opens to No. 3 with $8.7 million, followed by "Journey 2" with $6.6 million.
