- Ridable Creatures – Several of the menacing creatures of Greek mythology in God of War III can now be manipulated against their will, as Kratos uses them to cross chasms, inflict blind rage against enemies, reveal puzzles and secrets, and as tools of complete annihilation.
- New Weapons and Combat System – New deadly weapons such as the Cestus ? powerful metal gauntlets with devastating strength ? and other brutal instruments of war that will allow Kratos to learn ruthless new techniques such as grappling with enemies and launching explosive wall-to-ground attacks.

For example, using the High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDRL) technology, the camera – when using Krato’s sightline – will emulate the human retina, causing players to feel a sharp brightness when Kratos exits a dark area and enters a sunlit area, similar to how the human eye would need to adjust.

Original Posting (03/16/2010)
My first 2 hours into the game, and the nagging question persists: what is going on?!
The story line is weak, and has no logical sequence to it. One moment I am fighting skeleton-like ghosts, the next some mega-horse attacks me with 2000-gallon-per-minute stream of water shooting out of its mouth and nostrils! Little I knew Kratos was allergic to water?!
Also, the fighting (thus far) requires no skills: just press those buttons as fast as you could. That’s it.
I bought the game based on the fact that I love war games. Also, the myriad of raving reviews online helped me make up my mind, especially when comparisons were drawn against “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves”. I thought heck, if I loved Uncharted then I am going to idolize God of War III. Wrong.
So far, Uncharted 2 beats God of War III in every aspects. The graphics, music, combat, mysteries and story line. Also, Uncharted 2 was amazing in duplicating actual scenic views of Tibet and Nepal. What is God of War III trying to depict, ancient Greece? Not quite.

Update (03/17/2010)
Thank you, everyone, for the comments. Your excitement for the game is really appreciated.
It is good to see other people passionate enough about something to actually taking the time to defend it. But let’s just continue to remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just because you disagree with someone should not automatically label them as an XBox “fanboy”. Well, I am not a fanboy; in fact, I do love my PS3 and PS1.
And in the same spirit, I will not trash other people’s opinions, either. They are entitled to theirs. I just wish that they try and keep it civil, that’s all.
I thought some comments did add real value to the discussion thread, especially the ones posted by DDustiNN and Evan. I must agree, more appreciation for the game may come with time, but it definitely failed me with first impressions.
To those who are still researching the game, I did mine quite well before deciding to buy it. I learned a good deal about depth, texture, HDRL and 4-axis navigation. I also learned about the story line and how it focuses on Kratos’ quest for vengeance. The reviews were stellar, especially those on CNET and PlayStation Magazine. But actual game playing was far less than stellar for the reasons I mentioned yesterday.
I will try and sell the game on EBay while the fever is ongoing. Maybe I could get 30 or 40 dollars back.

GOW3 is not really a good game to play because the graphic is not that great, story line suck, playing GOW3 is OK not that FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Final Fantasy 13 is way…………………..better than GOW3!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn’t blow me away, this game has been way over hyped. I hated the fixed camera, staring at a wall during a boss fight is so not cool. It was also pretty short I would recommend just renting it. Over all just blah.

Can someone please start making video games with more depth!? What’s the point of having Bluray discs with all that space on them if you’re going to release this kind of stuff? The graphics and ‘levels’ on this game are extremely lame looking, the overall art and look of the game is horrible, the story is ridiculous as well. You’re basically paying for industry hyped garbage. Go with a genre bending game like Heavy Rain. Uncharted 2 even blows this game out of the water on all fronts.

This game would be great if it were playable. When pressing R1 to open chests it acts like it isn’t being held. The double jump doesn’t work. I initially thought it was my controller, tried another. Same result and looked online, a plethora of people are having this issue. Playstation had no answers. When I called they said that the number to contact God of War III, was their number but it wasn’t anything they had a solution to. Ridiculous and disapointing. I recommend against buying this until that is fixed.
Latest patch has fixed my glitch, I still drop a star due to this initial problem combined with it being not as good as Uncharted 2 in my opinion
